Voopoo Drag Mini Refresh Edition Mod Kit Review

Vaping the Voopoo Drag Mini – Refresh Edition

Voopoo continues to get one thing very right with the Drag Mini – the vaunted GENE Fit chipset, which makes the mod’s 117 watts sing like a choir. It may be a little long in the tooth, but with a near-instant firing speed, and immediate detection of all atomizer types, there’s likely nothing you have in your collection that will cause the Drag Mini to stumble.

Plus, the GENE chipset’s famous battery efficiency gave me extraordinary life between recharges of the 4,400mAh integrated cell. I enjoyed an average of 6-7 hours of longevity, which is nothing short of amazing considering the big, powerful draws that come from the Mini.

Because the GENE chip series is still performance-focused but largely unchanged, the visual display is the same monochrome OLED we’ve come to know. While I’ve expressed a need for a graphic upgrade, I’m more content with this format on a mod of this size.

PnP Pod Tank

Also, we need to mention the PnP Pod Tank, which is included in the kit, accompanied by the VM1 (0.15-ohm) and VM5 (0.2-ohm) coils. This compact but strong-performing tank is a fine addition to the kit, if not a necessary purchase on its own.

While there’s something to be said for its versatility — most notably the way the PnP marries a standard tank base with a magnetic pod casing — it’s not any better than a standard sub-ohm tank. If there was a better experience coming from these hybrid atomizers, I’d happily evolve with the rest of the world. But it’s just not there yet.

Both the included coils delivered deep, rich flavor and surprisingly dense vapor production, even at lower wattages. At higher wattages, they can flavorfully fog a room with no concern. They’re not marathon runners, though – expect each to last around 3-5 days before the flavor begins to wane, and 7-8 days before they tap out entirely.

On a more tactile level, the Drag Mini was a much more enjoyable device to use for longer periods, thanks to the smoother corners and rounded edges. Unlike some other devices in the series, I felt good taking the Drag Mini out for the night, with no painful digging into my palm.
